For one day, the Foundation hands its space to a different kind of making. Product Build Day brings people who do not write code into the Museum and asks them to build a working digital product with AI tools, from a blank screen in the morning to something they can show by the evening. Same room, same clock, same brief for everyone.

The goal is simple. Take an idea at the start of the day and have a working version of it by the end. You describe what you want in plain English and the AI tools do the building. By mid-morning everyone is building. In the afternoon every team pitches what they made to a small panel of judges, and the winners are recognised at the end.

This is the Museum meeting new technology in the most direct way. Art has always borrowed the tools of its time. For one Saturday, the Foundation becomes a place where culture and AI sit in the same room, and where the people closest to a problem get to build the answer themselves instead of waiting for someone else to build it.

It is built for product people and others who work in tech, product managers, product owners, designers, researchers, analysts and founders. You do not need to code and you do not need to have built anything before. You bring the thinking, the AI tools do the typing.

There are two tracks to pick from, one with the Foundation about bringing more people to the Museum and its collection, and one on accessibility. The exact challenge is shared at a short online session two days before, on Thursday 9 July, so everyone comes ready and starts building on the day.

Here is how the day runs. Doors open at 09:00 with a welcome. By 09:15 the tracks are set up and teams form, solo or in twos and threes. From 09:30 to 16:00 it is heads down building, mentored the whole way. At 16:00 the pitches start, every team, five minutes each. The winners are recognised at 17:00, and we carry on with networking after that.

Product Build Day is part of the Foundation's community outreach activities and is run in collaboration with Marcin Klimaszewski, who has brought the format to product teams across Europe.

"Building used to be the expensive part. Now you can have an idea over coffee and a working version of it by the afternoon. I want people who never saw themselves as builders to walk out of the Museum having built something real."
