Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism: three artistic movements come to life through the new series of interactive tours in the Collection of the B&E Goulandris Foundation, taking place on Saturdays in March, April, and May, respectively.

Discover the most fundamental movements of the 20th century and become artists yourselves on this creative journey through time. Starting in 1900s France, with stops in interwar and postwar Spain and Germany, the final destination is the Foundation’s Library, which transforms into an atelier where we will create our own artworks on canvas.

The first tour begins on Saturday, March 8, with the month dedicated to Cubism—a movement that emerged in 1907 in France, led by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. You will first explore the Cubist artworks in the Foundation’s Collection and then create your own Cubist portrait on canvas, drawing inspiration from these two artists.

April is the month of Surrealism, offering you the opportunity to explore the dreamlike world and subconscious of Joan Miró, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst and Alberto Giacometti by discovering their works up close. Then, you can bring your own dreams to life using tempera and collage techniques to create your own surreal visual poems.

Finally, in May, Expressionism takes the spotlight, focusing on the expression of emotions. The works of Jackson Pollock, Anselm Kiefer and Francis Bacon set the example, inviting you to bring colour and form to your feelings by transferring them onto canvas after the tour.

In the new series of themed tours "Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism" you have the option to attend a single tour or choose a special package that includes all three tours, one for each artistic movement.

Those interested in participating in all three tours of the movements can purchase a special participation package, with a total cost of €50 for all three tours. The corresponding cost for Members is €40.

To purchase the package, you buy the ticket for the first interactive tour (Cubism) online, and by showing it at the Foundation’s Reception on the day of the tour, you can pay the remaining amount.
