Psaroloco International Film Festival for Children & Young People 2026

A festival designed for young audiences, celebrating their curiosity and spirit of discovery at the B&E Goulandris Foundation

For yet another year, little cinephiles meet up with their parents for free, high-quality cinema at the PSAROLOCO International Film Festival for Children & Young People, which will take place at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22.

The initiative’s main goal is to meaningfully familiarise children and teenagers with contemporary audiovisual creation, to cultivate their critical thinking, imagination and creativity, and to strengthen their equal access to quality cultural goods. At the same time, it actively contributes to audience development and to the dissemination of contemporary artistic creation across different social and geographical environments, including areas outside urban centers, through the Psaroloco on Tour programme.

The film programme consists of nine (9) competition sections and includes forty-nine (49) short films from more than twenty-four (24) countries. The films are organised by age groups and thematic categories such as “Films by Children,” “Human Rights” and “Environment.” The “Films by Children” section is also implemented through a specially designed online programme with free access, enhancing equality in access and participation.

Special consideration is given to the 4–6 age group, for whom two (2) films nominated for the BAFTA Awards 2025 will be screened, dubbed into Greek, ensuring full accessibility and pedagogical suitability of the content.

For the first time, the programme also includes a feature-length film screening: the animated film MARY ANNING (2025), directed by Marcel Barelli, a Swiss-Belgian production, with a duration of 72 minutes. The film, with a strong educational and social character, highlights issues of scientific knowledge, equality, youth empowerment and historical memory, and is addressed to children and family audiences.

The Psaroloco festival is accompanied by free access to educational and entertaining material for the teaching use of the films, as well as parallel activities.

* The films are screened with Greek subtitles.
** Upon entry, a ballot card is provided for audience voting.
