The Artist's Cinema: Film Selections by Jannis Psychopedis

Summer Screenings on the Museum Terrace

The Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, in collaboration with Cinebur, presents a new series of summer film screenings on the Terrace of its Neoclassical Building Museum in Athens during the summer of 2026. The Terrace is located on the Museum's third floor, where the Foundation's collection of Modern and Contemporary Greek Art is exhibited, and offers uninterrupted views of the Parthenon Temple, Lycabettus Hill and the Saronic Gulf.

On the occasion of the exhibition "Jannis Psychopedis: Landscapes of Memory. The Ones I Kept," on view through October 4, the distinguished artist has selected six classic films that shaped his own artistic vision and engage, in different ways, with themes of imagery, memory, the city and artistic creation.

From Jean-Luc Godard and Elia Kazan to Michelangelo Antonioni, Billy Wilder, Carlos Saura and Federico Fellini, the "The Artist's Cinema" programme invites audiences to experience cinema through the eyes of a painter, in a unique summer setting beneath the Athenian sky.

The screenings take place on the Terrace of the B&E Goulandris Foundation Museum in Athens. Depending on the ticket type selected, guests may enjoy a choice of cocktails, while there is also the option of joining a guided tour of the temporary exhibition before the screening.

Tickets are available through the Cinebur app for iOS and Android.
