Jazz at the Museum
“Numbers”
The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents the Jazz at the Museum music series for the seventh year, a programme of concerts curated by Dimitris Tsakas that brings jazz into dialogue with the visual arts. Once a month, the Foundation’s Amphitheatre becomes a meeting point for music and art, inviting audiences on a different musical journey each time.
The seventh thematic cycle of the much-loved series is titled “Numbers” and takes its inspiration from numbers. Not simply as mathematical symbols, but as aesthetic forms, meanings and results that organise, recur and create rhythmic patterns. From musical composition and improvisation to visual forms, numbers function as a common code, revealing unexpected connections between art and music.
Across nine unique concerts, each offering a different approach to the concept of Numbers, jazz meets the art of the Foundation’s Collection, creating a new dialogue each time between sounds, rhythms, shapes and numerical relationships. A programme that explores the ways in which numbers can become music, image, rhythm and, ultimately, artistic expression.
