The B&E Goulandris Foundation, in collaboration with visual artist and comic artist Dimitra Adamopoulou (aka Dimi Adam), is organising an original four-session comic workshop for adults and teenagers aged 15+, taking place on Sundays March 1, 8, 15 and 22.

Starting from selected works from the Foundation’s Collection, participants will have the opportunity to explore the art of comics and become familiar with drawing techniques. Drawing inspiration from works by major artists such as Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein and Alberto Giacometti, they will practice drawing the head, the human figure and backgrounds. In the final session, they will complete their own story by creating their own comic.

The workshop will be held in the Foundation’s Library, is suitable for beginners and all materials are provided by the Foundation. Participants are also entitled to one free visit to the permanent Collection and the temporary exhibition “From Monet to Warhol.”

Dimitra Adamopoulou studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, and comics, animation and illustration at the Ornerakis School. Her work includes comics, sketches and illustrations for publications, advertising and children’s books. Recently, she has been working on the web comic series “Psychotherapy in Pop Culture” and “True Story.” Her comics “Very Normal,” “True Story” and “Dracula MGD” (co-creator) have been published by Jemma Press and socomic.gr. At the same time, she teaches comics, illustration and painting to children and adults—and loves learning from them as well.
