An Irrational Tale
Inclusive educational creative workshop for adults – with and without disabilities (in Greek)
The B&E Goulandris Foundation joins forces once again with the Greek National Opera, hosting within its premises a specially designed educational workshop for adults—with and without disabilities—titled “An Irrational Tale”, running from May 7 to July 3.
The workshop is part of the Foundation’s broader inclusion initiatives, with the first two sessions taking place within the temporary exhibition “Catch Me” by Nicholas Kontaxis. Participation is free, with online reservation required and attendance is necessary at all sessions.
The programme focuses on the theme of everyday life in all its facets, drawing inspiration from folk poetry and paraloges—narrative ballads that tell stories of human experience in a fairytale-like manner. Participants, guided by facilitators, will explore the narrative and epic-lyrical nature of the paralogi, and use illogical and fantastical elements to co-create a contemporary version: a multi-verse, modern ballad of the absurd, inspired by the daily lives of group members and the urban-mythical landscape of Athens.
The workshop is funded by the Ministry of Culture, under the project: “SUB.1.1.6 – Attracting individuals aged 65 and over and individuals with disabilities to events of the Greek National Opera,” implemented as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
