Recitals by new graduates of the Athens Conservatoire

On Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9, classical music will meet the visual arts, as the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation and the Athens Conservatoire join forces once again to present two recitals by new graduates of the Conservatoire at the Foundation’s Amphitheatre.

Three young graduates who excelled during the Conservatoire’s examination period will perform works by major classical composers — and more — beginning with a vocal recital by Paris Dimatsas and Dimitra Doumeni on Saturday, November 8 and concluding with a viola recital by Philippos Ketentzian on Sunday, November 9.

In the vocal recital on Saturday, November 8, Athens Conservatoire graduates Paris Dimatsas (class of Dimitris Tiliakos) and Dimitra Doumeni (class of Despina Kalafati) will perform works by Schubert, Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Korngold, Dvořák, Donizetti, Liszt and others, accompanied on piano by Dimitris Vezyroglou.

On Sunday, November 9, Athens Conservatoire graduate Philippos Ketentzian (class of Antonis Manias) will give a viola recital, performing works by Bach, Stamitz, and Hindemith, with Eleni Nikolaïdi at the piano.

With an emphasis on the coexistence of the arts and the promotion of emerging artists, the aim of the Foundation and the Athens Conservatoire is to offer each year the opportunity to selected graduates from the January and June examination periods to enrich, through their musical artistry, a space dedicated to the visual arts.
