"Clay through the colours and textures of the sea"
Ceramic sculpture workshop (2 sessions) for adults and teens 15+ with Elpida Kourtzi (in Greek)
The B&E Goulandris Foundation, in collaboration with ceramic artist Elpida Kourtzi, is organising a ceramic sculpture workshop using stoneware clay for adults and teenagers aged 15 and above, titled “Clay through the colours and textures of the sea.” The workshop will take place in two sessions of 2.5 hours each, on Fridays, April 24 and May 8.
Drawing inspiration from the works in the Collection of the B&E Goulandris Foundation, participants will create their own unique ceramic shell. After the completion of both sessions, they will receive their ceramic artworks fired and glazed, packaged as a gift.
• In the first session, following a brief introduction to the importance of different sculpting techniques, participants will each create their own ceramic shells by combining two different techniques: slab building and coil building.
• In the second session, participants will complete their works by adding colours and textures to their sculptures using glazes.
After the completion of both sessions, all participants’ ceramics will be fired at 1220°C and will be available for pickup within 10 days, packaged as a gift at the Foundation.
