A holistic coffee tasting experience at the B&E Goulandris Foundation
Once a month at the B&E Goulandris Café-Restaurant, in collaboration with Yiannis Taloumis (in Greek)
The B&E Goulandris Foundation collaborates with Yiannis Taloumis, CEO and Head of Quality at Taf Coffee, to present a holistic coffee tasting inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s painting “Still Life with Coffee Pot” from the Foundation’s Collection. Starting on October 6, once a month at the Foundation’s Café-Restaurant, participants will have the opportunity to explore not only the flavour and aromatic qualities of the coffee bean but the entire plant.
Coffee as a beverage comes from roasting the beans of the fruit and brewing them – yet other parts of the plant also offer unique aromas and flavours. The leaves of the plant, which can be harvested and dried, as well as the husk (Cascara), have their own distinct value.
This unique tasting experience unfolds through different stages, guided by expert coffee master Yiannis Taloumis. We begin with the presentation of the coffee plant’s leaves and then discover the husk of the ripe cherry. The following stages focus on the coffee bean itself, giving us the chance to savour Taf’s exceptional coffees and compare characteristics that stimulate different points of our palate. Juxtaposing varieties from different terroirs takes us beyond the limits of the usual perceived complexity of coffee, initiating us into the deeper dimensions of its mindful enjoyment.
