From Gender Conflict to Gender Cooperation and Peace
Strategies, Techniques, and Tools for Everyday Practice
The Gender Alliance Initiative, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Athens and the B&E Goulandris Foundation are organising on Saturday, November 22, at the Foundation’s Amphitheatre, a workshop on gender equality and democracy in education, addressed exclusively to educators. Participation is free, but online reservation is required.
The workshop aims to empower educators by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and methodological tools necessary to critically engage with gender-related issues. Participants will be supported in developing educational activities and resources tailored to their own teaching environments, fostering inclusive practices.
The workshop is structured around two thematic pillars. The first one is gender and stereotypes in everyday life (exploration of how gender roles and stereotypes are shaped and reinforced through public discourse, society, digital media, television, print media, advertising, fashion, education, employment, and interpersonal relationships). The second one is gender-based violence: topics include partnership dynamics, consent, sexual harassment, sexism, misogyny, toxic masculinity, domestic violence, abuse, and femicide.
Designed by gender studies experts, the workshop offers participants the opportunity to reflect deeply on how gender stereotypes are internalised—often unconsciously—forming a layered structure of sexism, gender toxicity and violence. The goal is to inspire transformative action, both personally and professionally, to dismantle these psychosocial constructs and promote gender equity and peace.
