Book Club: “From page to screen”
An original initiative about the relationship between classic literature, cinema and art (in Greek)
In the new initiative of the B&E Goulandris Foundation — an original book club titled “From Page to Screen”, launching on Friday, November 14 and taking place once a month — we examine works of classic literature that have been adapted for the big screen and discover how art can take on different forms.
One Friday each month, in the Foundation’s Library from 18.30 to 20.00, we turn the page and press play. The “From Page to Screen” book club invites book and film enthusiasts to explore great novels that have leapt from bookshelves to the big screen. Author Dimitris Stefanakis and cinephile Pavlos Gkougiannos unravel the literary and cinematic dimensions of iconic works and, with the participation of the audience, explore their many perspectives.
Each meeting focuses on a different book; the session begins with an analysis of the literary work, followed by a presentation of short clips from its film adaptation, with participants taking an active role in the discussion.
The book club is part of the Foundation’s community outreach initiatives, and it is organised in collaboration with the bookstore Lexikopoleio, which offers participants a special discount on the purchase of the books related to the programme.
