“Tea in Cézanne’s Countryside”
A tasting experience with Greek herbs at the B&E Goulandris Foundation (in Greek)
Paul Cézanne’s painting “Countryside in Auvers-sur-Oise”, from the Collection of the B&E Goulandris Foundation, becomes the starting point for a special encounter at the Foundation’s Café, where art converses with the richness of Greek herbs through a unique tasting experience. The work of the great French artist, which highlights the harmony of nature, inspired a flavour journey designed to initiate us into a new way of connecting with nature.
Starting on Wednesday, October 22, and taking place once a month, participants will be guided through a world of aromas and flavours showcasing herbs from the Greek countryside as well as Greek gastronomy. The sessions are led by Angeliki Drakou, co-founder of Grizo & Prasino – a modern Greek company that cultivates organic herbs and creates aromatic beverages.
Through tastings that surprise and challenge stereotypes, this two-hour event will literally engage all our senses. Our aim is to highlight the authenticity of Greek flavours and to create a ritual that recalls the experience of the countryside, even in the heart of bustling Athens.
The unique herbs of Greek nature have many stories to tell – from antiquity to folk tradition, they have found their place in painting and literature, been used for healing purposes and are renowned for the relaxing experience they can offer as a pause from the fast pace of everyday life.
In the tasting event “Tea in Cézanne’s Countryside” we smell, taste and discover the extraordinary flavour and aromatic variations of Greek herbs. These monthly gatherings will continue until May, inviting participants to rediscover the timeless joy born from our connection with both art and nature.
