Six-session creative writing workshop cycles for teenagers aged 13+ with Filippos Mandilaras (in Greek)
What does it mean to grow up surrounded by gazes, friendships, love, boundaries and expectations?
Drawing inspiration from iconic works from its Collection, the B&E Goulandris Foundation invites teenagers aged 13+ to turn their experiences, questions and challenges of adolescence into stories in the creative writing workshop “In Real”, led by award-winning author Filippos Mandilaras.
Exploring issues such as identity, power dynamics, the gaze of others, gender-based and other forms of violence, love, the search for connection and affection, participants experiment with writing and discover their own narrative voice, giving shape to the things that matter to them today.
Real life, unexplored emotions and genuine relationships form the central themes of this series of creative writing workshops for teenagers, comprising three cycles of six three-hour sessions each. Every Sunday, 11.00–14.00, from October 18 to November 22, 2026 (Cycle A), January 17 to February 21, 2027 (Cycle B) and March 7 to April 18, 2027 (Cycle C).

Submission or resistance? Fear or standing up for yourself? A power game or a means of expression?
Taking inspiration from two iconic works from the Foundation’s Collection (Pablo Picasso, Nude Woman with Raised Arms / Balthus, Michelina in an Armchair Raising her Arms (recto) – Studies for “Michelina” (verso)), we explore through writing power dynamics, gender stereotypes and forms of violence that shape the experience of growing up and coming of age.

Taking inspiration from Spectators by Edouard Sacaillan from the Foundation’s Collection, we write about the gaze, first impressions, observation, being seen, misunderstandings and the need to be visible.

Is love just about love stories? Or is it more about questions, expectations, courage, awkwardness and discovery?
Taking inspiration from the two Erotic works by Yannis Moralis from the Foundation’s Collection, we transform experiences, messages, friendships that have changed shape and feelings that are difficult to put into words into serious, funny, melancholic, romantic or hilarious stories about coming closer, connecting and drifting apart.

Number of participants: Up to 15 teenagers per cycle
Cost of participation (including six sessions): 60€ per cycle
