Jazz at the Museum

Evi Mazi & Manos Kitsikopoulos – “The Breath of Time”

The B&E Goulandris Foundation’s much-loved concert series Jazz at the Museum, which this year is titled Her Voice and opens up to new musical paths embracing classical music, lyrical song and other forms of expression that highlight the timeless power of the musical arts, continues on Friday, March 13, with Evi Mazi and Manos Kitsikopoulos in the performance “The Breath of Time.”

Singer and flute soloist Evi Mazi and pianist Manos Kitsikopoulos present a unique musical retrospective, spanning from the classical tradition to contemporary creation. At the centre lies the female nature—an inexhaustible source of inspiration, sensitivity and strength that permeates artistic expression across different eras and musical currents.

Johann Sebastian Bach meets The Beatles in a dialogue that bridges centuries, Gabriel Fauré converses with Attik, Kurt Weill with Mikis Theodorakis, while Antonio Vivaldi unites his melodies with those of Manos Hadjidakis. Chamber music, instrumental melodies and songs are interwoven harmoniously, creating a meeting rich in contrasts, diverse tonal colours and intense emotions.

The versatile pianist Manos Kitsikopoulos moves freely and experiments creatively across different musical genres, starting from classical music. He has received distinctions and awards, has performed in important venues in Greece and abroad and also teaches at the Athens Conservatoire. Singer and flute soloist Evi Mazi has collaborated with symphony orchestras, artistic ensembles, composers and artists such as Nikos Mamangakis, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Stella Gadedi and Argyris Bakirtzis. She has performed in numerous concert venues, as well as on television and radio programmes.

About the "Jazz at the Museum" series

The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents the concert series Jazz at the Museum, a programme dedicated to different currents of jazz. Once a month, jazz meets the visual arts at the Museum, taking us on a musical journey through the history of the genre, beginning in the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and under the artistic direction of Dimitris Tsakas.

After five successful years, this beloved concert series expands and evolves. It opens up to new musical paths, now embracing classical music, lyrical song and other forms of expression that highlight the timeless power of the musical art. The new thematic cycle, titled “Her Voice”, places women at the heart of the artistic exploration – as creators, performers and sources of inspiration. Through nine unique concerts, the programme explores the female presence and influence in the musical world, illuminating voice, experience, expression and creativity.
