Myrtò Papatanasiu – “Respiro e Sospiro”
After five successful years, the beloved concert series of the B&E Goulandris Foundation Jazz at the Museum returns to the Foundation’s Amphitheatre and expands: under the title “Her Voice”, this year’s cycle opens up to new musical paths, embracing classical music, lyrical song and other forms of expression that highlight the timeless power of the musical art.
This year’s series opens on Friday, October 24, with award-winning soprano Myrtò Papatanasiu, who will explore breath and sigh through songs and arias from the Italian and French repertoire, accompanied on the piano by Dimitris Yakas. In this timeless play between light and shadow, silence and sound, breath and sigh, each piece becomes a small theatrical stage where voice and accompaniment express the depths of the human soul.
Soprano Myrtò Papatanasiu has appeared in some of the world’s most prestigious theatres and concert halls and has collaborated with many leading conductors and orchestras. She received the “Maria Callas – Best New Artist” award for her performance in La Traviata in Dallas, and in 2011 appeared at the Closing Ceremony of the Special Olympics in Athens. More recently, she appeared as Elisabetta in the major production of Donizetti’s La Bastarda at La Monnaie Opera in Brussels, as well as Tosca on tour in France. She made her debut as Madama Butterfly in Catania and Ancona, and as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Maria Callas’s birth she was invited to give gala performances in Milan, Palermo, Florence, the Rome Opera, and other venues.

About the "Jazz at the Museum" series
The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents the concert series Jazz at the Museum, a programme dedicated to different currents of jazz. Once a month, jazz meets the visual arts at the Museum, taking us on a musical journey through the history of the genre, beginning in the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and under the artistic direction of Dimitris Tsakas.
After five successful years, this beloved concert series expands and evolves. It opens up to new musical paths, now embracing classical music, lyrical song and other forms of expression that highlight the timeless power of the musical art. The new thematic cycle, titled “Her Voice”, places women at the heart of the artistic exploration – as creators, performers and sources of inspiration. Through nine unique concerts, the programme explores the female presence and influence in the musical world, illuminating voice, experience, expression and creativity.
