Mikael Delta, one of the most important composers of electronic music in Greece and a founding member of the band Stereo Nova, presents for the first time live at the Amphitheatre of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation the performance “Pnoe” (Breath). It is an original musical creation created on the occasion of the major retrospective exhibition Takis 1∞, organised by the Foundation to mark the centenary of the artist’s birth.

A contemporary musical exploration of the beauty and mysteries of the innovative art of Takis and the pioneering work of Mikael Delta, embodied by a musical trio that promises an unforgettable experience. Analogue electronic sounds, melodic patterns and the timbres of the cello and the piano give “Breath” to the emotional vibrations of the performance and of Takis’ works.

“‘Pnoe’ was born from my need for something creatively beneficial in the face of the challenges of our time. It connects me vitally with the here and now. The synchronicity with the pioneering work of Takis was an important stimulus for enriching this artistic Breath of mine. I was inspired by Takis’ life, by the fact that we share common inner and existential quests,” says Mikael Delta about the performance.

In distinguished company, cellist Stavros Parginos, pianist Giannis Michail, soprano Sofia Karvouna and visual artist and set designer Andreas Georgiadis, who curates the visual content, create a dialogue between sound and image.

The performance will also feature excerpts of poems by writer Evgenios Giarenis.

The performance “Pnoe” is part of the parallel events of the exhibition Takis 1∞, organised by the B&E Goulandris Foundation at its two museums, in Athens and Andros, through November 2.
