“Myths and truths about black clay”
Ceramics workshop (2 sessions) for adults and teens 15+ with Elpida Kourtzi (in Greek)
The B&E Goulandris Foundation, in collaboration with ceramist Elpida Kourtzi, is organising the ceramics workshop for adults and teens 15+ “Myths and truths about black clay”, which will take place over two sessions, on Friday, March 13 and Friday, March 20.
Drawing inspiration from Claude Monet’s work “Rouen Cathedral in the Morning (Pink Dominant)”, which belongs to the B&E Goulandris Foundation Collection, we will create unique, functional ceramic objects for everyday use.
In the first session, inspired by Monet’s enchanting scenery, we will create our own artwork with black clay and make plates and bowls using the slab technique. In the second session, choosing from an autumn colour palette, we will apply high-temperature glazes to cover the inner surface of our ceramic pieces.
One week after the completion of the second session, participants will be able to collect their ceramics from the Museum, beautifully packaged as a gift.
