“The uniqueness of chance”
Two-session ceramics workshop for adults and teenagers aged 15+ with Elpida Kourtzi (in Greek)
The B&E Goulandris Foundation, in collaboration with ceramic artist Elpida Kourtzi, is organising the ceramics workshop for adults and teenagers aged 15 and above, titled “The uniqueness of chance.” The workshop will take place in two sessions, on Fridays June 5 and 12.
Drawing inspiration from Jackson Pollock’s work “Number 13, 1950”, that is part of the B&E Goulandris Foundation Collection, participants will create unique functional ceramic objects for everyday use.
During the first session, inspired by Pollock’s artistic technique, participants will create their own artwork using light-coloured clay and produce plates employing the slab-building technique. In the second session, working with a dynamic colour palette, participants will decorate the inner surfaces of their ceramic pieces with spontaneous splashes of glaze, ranging from bold and expressive to more delicate gestures.
One week after the completion of the second session, participants will be able to collect their glazed and fired ceramic works from the Museum, presented in gift packaging.
