Greek artists guide B&E Members through the Foundation’s Collection
A monthly, specially designed activity exclusively for the Members of the B&E Goulandris Foundation
At the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation we remain focused on the programme dedicated to our Members, who represent for us much more than just an art-loving audience. It is our aim to always live up to their expectations, their passion for every form of artistic expression and their desire to generously contribute to our different activities.
Hence, our dear Members, we have designed for you a special series of visits for 2025. We have asked ten of our most talented artists to share with us what they consider to be ten of the most iconic works of the Foundation’s Collection. Once a month, a different artist will be called to lead a visit to the galleries of the Foundation’s permanent Collection, which will open exclusively for the occasion.
For approximately one hour, each artist will share with you their favourite works, they will talk about their influences and the personalities that have left their mark on their careers and, through them, will present their experiences as an artist.
For the first meeting, that will take place on Wednesday February 26, we have invited Andreas Kontellis, whose work is defined by the kind of maturity that is detached from all references and has become deeply personal. Andreas will guide us through ten works on the first three floors of the Foundation’s permanent Collection.
Our next guest artists over the following months will be Androniki Chila, Stefanos Daskalakis, Alexandra Athanassiades and Sotiris Sorogas. After a pause over the summer, the series will return in the autumn and will run to December 2025. All visits are free of charge for our Members; advance online bookings are necessary for each visit.
As an art historian, these visits will provide a great opportunity for me to look at these works from a different angle, and undoubtedly focus on many details and stories that I was not aware of. Following these artists, who share the same concerns and the same vision as their predecessors, we can delve into the complexity of the creative process and become part of an unforgettable sensory, aesthetic and spiritual experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Foundation!
