On Friday January 10, 2025, at 19.00, philosopher and writer Stelios Ramfos meets politician Anna Diamantopoulou at the Amphitheatre of the B&E Goulandris Foundation for a discussion titled “The impact of classical Greece on contemporary political leadership”.

A leading personality of Greece’s political scene, Anna Diamantopoulou, meets contemporary philosopher Stelios Ramfos in a discussion that will be coordinated by Thanasis Lalas, author of the book series “Drinking coffee with Socrates, Plato and Aristotle”; a dialogue that continues 2.500 years later and is more timely than ever.

Today that the world has lost its balance and identity, core values are being challenged and the internet creates the illusion of a society where people can intervene and make decisions, it is more important than ever to bring to the surface the work of ancient Greek philosophers, who defined the history of human thought over the centuries. We often talk about the persons whose thoughts have left an indelible mark, but most of us ignore their actual work. This discussion will remind us of the vitality of their words and we will re-build the concept of morality and citizenship in contemporary democracies.

The discussion will further include interventions by architect and writer Fenia Tsanaka as well as the Foundation’s Director Kyriakos Koutsomallis.
