Well-known singer, songwriter and vocal teacher Maria Papageorgiou will launch, on October 30, a seminar on diaphragmatic breathing, orthophony and the use of the body’s sound chambers at the first floor of the B&E Goulandris Foundation’s permanent Collection, offering once a month a holistic approach to personal harmony through Art.

Both our voice and our breathing are inextricably linked to our mental balance. Nonetheless, the lack of knowledge and our limiting beliefs often prevent us from feeling free to reach our highest potential. Based on our body’s registered “memories” concerning how we breathe, a reminder of our vocal scale in our daily emotional expressions as well as the discovery of our sound chambers’ highest vibration and the use of our muscles, we will recover these deeply rooted memories and we will reconnect with our harmonised self.

With simple, experiential exercises, by observing the human voice as well as analysing important works from the B&E Goulandris Foundation Collection, Maria Papageorgiou will explain about natural breathing and the diaphragm, she will teach the key points of resonance, ways to enhance the voice while speaking and singing, ways to protect our vocal cords from injuries and much more.
