The B&E Goulandris Foundation, as part of the tribute to Henri Cartier-Bresson and in collaboration with photographer Chris Doulgeris, is running a seminar for teenagers aged 13 to 17 that will take place in two independent, two-meeting series.

The seminar gives teens the opportunity to “read” and analyse some of the great photographer’s most important pictures. The first meeting focuses on the aesthetic framework of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s photographic depictions while the second meeting reveals the tools, the equipment and the magic of the dark room.

Under the guidance of photographer Chris Doulgeris, the young friends of black and white photography will have the opportunity to experience the ways and the methodology that Cartier-Bresson used with his rangefinder camera, as well as evaluate his aesthetic approach to “street photography”.

Then, they will learn the special techniques of Gelatin silver printing and with the instructor’s help they will print black and white photographs in a specially designed dark room inside the premises of the B&E Goulandris Foundation.

*No prior experience or knowledge of photography techniques is required to attend the seminar. All necessary protective measures have been taken in the dark room and special equipment will be provided as professional printing materials will be used.
