Alex Drakos Ktistakis & Katerina Polemi - "Anthology"
The B&E Goulandris Foundation’s popular concert series Jazz at the Museum continues its Poetry and Jazz tribute with an evening dedicated to Greek poetry by Alex Drakos Ktistakis and Katerina Polemi, on Friday, March 17.
Composer Alex Drakos Ktistakis has set to music poems by leading representatives of Greek poetry and, on the occasion of the “Poetry and Jazz” tribute, together with his quartet they engage in a dialogue with Greek poets. This poetry anthology runs through many different historical landmarks, with pre-revolutionary poetry meeting mid-war poetry as well as contemporary poetry. The Quartet is joined by composer and interpreter Katerina Polemi, who sings in the performance.
Alex Drakos Ktistakis’ compositions are inextricably linked to prose and poetry, a feature that also defines his two solo albums. Starting from jazz and improvisation, the quartet’s music is genre-defying and “embraces” elements from different music genres, hence going beyond the boundaries of jazz.

VIVA.GRAbout the Jazz at the Museum series
The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents Jazz at the Museum, a series of tribute concerts to different jazz genres. Once a month, jazz meets visual art and together they take us on a music journey to the heart of jazz, at the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and under the artistic direction of Dimitris Tsakas.
In the latest series, great jazz bands present different aspects of the connection between jazz and poetry. Following the tribute to Greek poetry, two evenings dedicated to jazz and poetry by the Dimitris Tsakas Quartet and Dimitris Katalifos have been scheduled for May.
