Memory Theatre
Thematic guided tours exclusively for B&E Members
The B&E Goulandris Foundation will run a series of thematic guided tours exclusively for B&E Members, titled “Memory Theatre”, from Friday April 8 to Sunday April 17.
Memory is the reference point at the “Memory Theatre” guided tours, bringing together the Foundation’s permanent Collection and the temporary exhibition Sotiris Sorogas – the time of memory in his artistic language, which is on display at the temporary exhibitions hall until Sunday April 17.
Focusing on selected works of the permanent Collection as well as Sotiris Sorogas’ exhibition, the guided tour presents the different ways that Greek and international artists deal with memory in terms of landscape and the human figure, occasionally incorporating a metaphysical touch.
The guided tour starts with modern and contemporary Greek art, exploring works by Panayotidis, Stamos, Tsarouchis and Vassiliou. It continues with Kiefer, Bacon, Mitoraj, de Chirico, Giacometti, Ernst, Braque, Bonnard and El Greco and ends with Sorogas.
The link between all these artists is that they express their existential concerns regarding the deterioration and decay of memory and matter through their art.
