“Rossiniade”
A musical fairy tale for children aged 4-9
“Rossiniade”, a musical fairy tale conceived and directed by Chloe Mantzari that introduces children to the magical world of the opera, goes on stage at the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and gets children aged 4 to 9 acquainted with the work of Gioachino Rossini, one of the greatest opera composers.
The show features some of the most beautiful arias and music from Rossini’s works “The Barber of Seville”, “Cinderella”, “William Tell” and “The Italian Girl in Algiers” as well as popular children’s songs such as the “Comic Duet for Two Cats”, performed live by talented opera singers accompanied by the piano.
Period costumes, fascinating sets, videos, art, imaginary choreographies, acrobatics and funny dialogues make up the performance, which has been designed to help the young audience appreciate and enjoy opera, overturning the common perception that opera is boring or difficult to understand.
“Rossiniade” is Chloe Mantzari’s second collaboration with the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, following the interactive performance “The four seasons and the Dragon” that went on stage last spring.
