About
[…] A new exhibition on Balthus is being inaugurated tomorrow in the 'Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation' in Andros which will last until 17th September. A tribute to Andreas Embiricos starts tonight and ends tomorrow in Andros at the same place. […] What one can say, especially this year, as the most positive aspect of what is attempted every year on the island, is that the choices are becoming more and more eclectic. Moreover, the Museum is forming a public who can accept and communicate with a creation that is totally different from the current one. […]

Once again the Museum of Contemporary Art in Andros will prove to us that a small museum in the provinces is not a half-extinguished exhibition space but a cultural hearth, promoting aesthetic and social messages, not only throughout Greece, but also internationally. […]
[…] Basil Goulandris established a foundation where, every year, he delights the locals, the art lovers and the surprised tourists with an exhibition of a great modern or contemporary artist: Picasso, Kupka, Cartier-Bresson, Matisse, Kandinsky. This year it is Balthus who occupies the whole space of the Foundation situated in the little seaside Hora. One hundred and twenty works were assembled there, mostly drawings, some delicately refreshing water-colours and the latest oil painting of this rare painter: 'The cat in the mirror II'. […]
