Picasso - Kupka - Cartier-Bresson

In the newly-built New Wing of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Andros, works by three important artists of world fame were presented, launching a series of periodical exhibitions of works by influential artists of the 20th century.
10 oil paintings, 12 drawings and 20 prints by Pablo Picasso were presented, as well as 155 photographs, "Visual Chronicle", by Henri Cartier-Bresson, in co-operation with the National Centre of Photography of France, and 80 drawings and watercolours by Frank Kupka, for the french edition of Aeschylus "Prometheus Bound".
It is, indeed, very important to be able to enjoy shows which have been brought together within a single area, which demonstrably and by international standards are characterised by indisputable quality, while at the same time include more than one period and style in art. This is the great value of the activities organised in the Hora of Andros by the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation since last year. This year, the scope and content of the exhibitions has been even wider and more multi-dimensional than last year's. […]
[…] The Goulandris couple deserve the warmest congratulations for endowing Andros with such an invaluable, not to mention costly, educational enterprise, and for ensuring its continued operation at such a high standard, that one has to come to Andros if one is to see the celebrated Parisians in Greece.
