A year in the Museum

Το εισιτήριο εισόδου των επισκεπτών που βρέθηκαν στο Ίδρυμα Β&Ε Γουλανδρή την Κυριακή 4 Οκτωβρίου συνιστά και δήλωση συμμετοχής στον διαγωνισμό «Ένας χρόνος στο Μουσείο». Δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στον Διαγωνισμό είχαν όσοι προέβησαν σε ηλεκτρονική προκράτηση εισιτηρίου (ελεύθερη είσοδος) προκειμένου να επισκεφτούν το Ίδρυμα Β&Ε Γουλανδρή στις 4/10/2020, με αφορμή τον εορτασμό του πρώτου έτους λειτουργίας του Μουσείου. Κάθε ηλεκτρονικό εισιτήριο που εκδόθηκε μέσω της ηλεκτρονικής προκράτησης αντιστοιχεί αποκλειστικά σε ένα (1) δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στον Διαγωνισμό και κάθε Συμμετέχων μπορεί να διεκδικήσει μόνο ένα (1) δώρο.

Οι νικητές μπορούν να παραλάβουν τα δώρο τους από την υποδοχή του μουσείου τις ημέρες 6/10/2020, 7/10/2020, 8/10/2020 και 9/10/2020, 10:00-17:00, με την προϋπόθεση της προσκόμισης του αντιγράφου του ηλεκτρονικού εισιτηρίου τους που αναφέρει τον αριθμό (barcode) που κληρώθηκε και του δελτίου ταυτότητάς του ή άλλου δημόσιου εγγράφου, από το οποίο να προκύπτει η ταυτοπροσωπία του. Τα δώρα δεν θα αποστέλλονται ταχυδρομικά.

On Sunday 4 October 2020, the B&E Goulandris Foundation, is celebrating its first year of operation and is welcoming visitors with free admission via online pre-registration and extended opening hours.

Pre-registration starts on Saturday, 19th September at 11.00.

Adhering to all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff, entry on the first Sunday of October can only be secured for a specific timeslot, via online pre-registration at goulandris.gr. Moreover, the opening hours will be extended and the musem will remain open from 10.00 to 20.00 on that day.

The day will be marked by the presentation of an extensive photographic tribute to the chronicle of the construction of the B&E Goulandris Foundation in Athens, by the photographic gaze of the distinguished practitioner of the art of the lens Christophoros Doulgeris, entitled “In the Making”. It is a journey through the construction of the project and the narration of the erection of the museum through photographic works-documents.

Visitors to the museum on 4 October, will have the opportunity to win prizes through contests which will take place throughout the day: Membership packages, unique products from the Shop, private guided tours, and many more. The day will also see the start of a big BAZAAR with up to 70% off exhibition catalogues, posters and collectors' items from the Foundation’s exhibition activity from 1979 until today.

*To ensure the smooth flow of visitors and avoid overcrowding, we kindly ask that you observe your chosen timeslot regarding your visit, both upon your arrival and your stay at the museum.

A year at the Museum:

The first year of the operation of the new museum of the B&E Goulandris Foundation in Athens comes to a close under unprecedented circumstances at times of unexpected health occurrences. As a result of the spread of the new coronavirus, the museum’s operation was suspended for three months –from March to June 2020- just five months after its opening. Despite the difficulties and challenges with which it was faced during its opening period, the B&E Goulandris Foundation managed to complete a year’s operation having realised its founders’ vision: to create a museum in Athens which offers a broad audience the opportunity to come into contact and become acquainted with the Art they so loved.

From Wednesday 2 October, when it opened its doors to the public, until today, the museum has been embraced and welcomed visitors of all ages, who have got to know the rare collection of works of modern and contemporary art, have toured the museum and participated in numerous educational and cultural activities. We would like to offer our warmest thanks for the love and warmth with which you have embraced the B&E Goulandris Foundation. Entering the second year of operation we are confident and hopeful that, circumstances permitting, we will be able to promote additional aspects of the capabilities and multifaceted activity of the city’s new museum.

Message from the Director of the B&E Goulandris Foundation, Kyriakos Koutsomallis:

“We would like to think of the past year as both a conclusion and a prelude. It will mark the end of negative events and the start of a new age which will return us to the sphere of normality. In any case, we will do everything possible for the heart of the dream of our Founders, to keep beating strongly during our second anniversary year”.

B&E Goulandris Foundation’s measures for the reduction of the spread of COVID-19:

The B&E Goulandris Foundation welcomes its audiences with safety, having put in place a number of necessary measures for the protection of public health and to secure a pleasant experience for its visitors. As such, the use of non-surgical face masks is mandatory throughout the visit to the museum and visitors are encouraged to use the disinfectants available. The museum has an open circuit air conditioning system and is cleaned regularly. Special attention is paid to distances being maintained within the museum’s spaces, avoiding crowding and ensure the smooth flow of visitors. Moreover, our contactless electronic tickets are scanned easily upon entry to the Museum.
