The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Greece, the Embassy of Australia in Greece and the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation will host the screening of the short movie ‘Out and About’ on Friday June 2^nd, at 18:00 o’clock, at the premises of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation (Eratosthenous 13, Pagkrati). The screening will be followed by a panel discussion about families of LGBTIQ+ children.

The film is subtitled in Greek and English.

The panel discussion will be interpreted to Greek and in sign language.

The location is fully accessible.

The event is part of the official program of Athens Pride 2023.

This documentary follows the daily lives of three families from Kenya, Indonesia and Russia and captures interactions between parents and children from the LGBTIQ+ community. Parents are at a crossroad; as they want their child to grow up in an environment where they feel protected and loved regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression; however cannot openly talk about it in fear of being discriminated or facing violence due to enormous social stigmas or anti-gay laws in their country – jeopardizing their own child’s safety. Out & About is an enlightening, touching and honest portrait of how misinformation, social stigma and anti-gay laws will extend gender issues to a wide circle of people around each member of the LGBTIQ+ community.
