The Club of the Misunderstood

What is “The Club of the Misunderstood” and if it had a stamp, what would it look like?

At the “Club of the Misunderstood” we will find different animals and plants like the spider, which causes us fear but at the same time protects us from diseases; the worm, that makes us think of dirt but is also the hero of the earth; or the nettle, that stings but also feeds butterflies and rejuvenates the ground.

Drawing inspiration from Georges Braque’s lithograph “Thistle”, that is part of the B&E Goulandris Foundation Collection, children aged 8-12 will be introduced to the printing technique and will create handmade, rubber stamps using as symbols animals or plants that are “misunderstood”.

Following the artist’s example, we will see that beauty is not always fancy or flawless. We will learn how art can transform something that might appear repulsive and turn it into something special, giving it a new destiny.

At the end of the workshop children will take home their print as well as the stamp they made, along with its wooden base.
