Harris Lambrakis Quartet – "The art of humble materials and music"
The B&E Goulandris Foundation’s Jazz at the Museum latest concert series, which is titled “Jazz Interactions” and explores the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art, continues on Friday February 7 with the Harris Lambrakis Quartet and the performance “The art of humble materials and music”.
Drawing inspiration from the B&E Goulandris Foundation’s temporary exhibition “Nakis Panayotidis – Shut your Eyes and See”, Nikos Sidirokastritis (drums), Dimitris Theocharis (piano), Dimitris Tsekouras (double bass) and Harris Lambrakis (ney) will embark on a musical dialogue with the art movement of humble materials (Arte Povera) at the Foundation’s Amphitheatre. Just like a glass of wine brings people closer, whether it is an expensive glass and fine wine or a clay mug and cheap wine, so does music, hence the quality of materials might not be that important after all compared to the need and the healing power of communication.
The Harris Lambrakis Quartet was founded in 2006 and its music brings together modal jazz, Greek traditional, the tropical compositions of the Eastern Mediterranean and free improvisation. Over its 20-year course, the Quartet has given many concerts and has performed in festivals in Greece and abroad. It has released three albums, “Thea” (2010), “Meteora” (2012) and “Lafina” (2023).

MORE.COMAbout the "Jazz at the Museum" series
The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents Jazz at the Museum, a series of tribute concerts to different jazz genres. Once a month, jazz meets visual arts and together they take us on a music journey to the heart of jazz, at the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and under the artistic direction of Dimitris Tsakas.
In this series, titled “Jazz Interactions”, jazz ensembles explore the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art. The series kicked off with Charis Ioannou’s Workin’ Trio on October 4 and continued with the Michalis Brouzos Trio on November 8 as well as Dimitri and Nestor Vassilakis on December 27. The new year kicked off on January 17 with the Dimitris Tsakas Trio; the series continues with the Harris Lambrakis Quartet and the performance The art of humble materials and music on February 7 and will end with Petros Klampanis (Rooftop Stories, 28/03).
