Jazz at the Museum
Petros Klampanis – "Rooftop Stories"
The B&E Goulandris Foundation's Jazz at the Museum latest concert series, which is titled "Jazz Interactions" and explores the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art, will end on Friday March 28 with Petros Klampanis and his performance "Rooftop Stories".
During the pandemic in 2020, Petros Klampanis found his own light at the end of the tunnel and created his fifth album, "Rooftop Stories". The album features a series of videos in which he climbs onto rooftops in various cities around the world that resonate with him, playing his music accompanied solely by his bass, amplifier and some electronic effects.
With the thought that these videos would serve as auditory travel "mementos," he created an original audiovisual solo project that stands as his most intimate and personal recording to date. Double bass, loops, percussion and voice combine to form a sonic journey through cities and beloved songs, which are reintroduced to us through the lens of Petros Klampanis.
Bassist, composer and producer Petros Klampanis was born in Greece and now lives between New York City and Athens. He has collaborated with prominent musicians such as Greg Osby, Jacques Morelenbaum, Oded Tzur, Arooj Aftab, Anoushka Shankar, Shai Maestro, Marcus Gilmore, Gilad Hekselman, Jonathan Blake, Jean-Michel Pilc, Snarky Puppy, Kinan Azmeh, Dimitra Galani and Maria Farantouri. He has performed in numerous concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Blue Note, Kennedy Center, MoMA, Barbican, the Megaron Concert Hall and many others.

About the "Jazz at the Museum" series
The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents Jazz at the Museum, a series of tribute concerts to different jazz genres. Once a month, jazz meets visual arts and together they take us on a music journey to the heart of jazz, at the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and under the artistic direction of Dimitris Tsakas.
In this series, titled “Jazz Interactions”, jazz ensembles explore the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art. The series kicked off with Charis Ioannou’s Workin’ Trio on October 4 and continued with the Michalis Brouzos Trio on November 8 as well as Dimitri and Nestor Vassilakis on December 27. The new year kicked off on January 17 with the Dimitris Tsakas Trio; the series continued with the Harris Lambrakis Quartet and it will end on March 28 with Petros Klampanis and the performance Rooftop Stories.
