Jazz at the Museum
Dimitris Tsakas Trio – "Genesis"
The B&E Goulandris Foundation’s Jazz at the Museum latest concert series, which is titled “Jazz Interactions” and explores the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art, welcomes the new year with the Dimitris Tsakas Trio and the performance “Genesis” on Friday, January 17.
Following the release of their new album “Conversation Helps”, the trio joins forces with artist Eleni Tsaka at the B&E Goulandris Foundation’s Amphitheatre to present the project “Genesis”, a creative dialogue between jazz and painting. The performance explores the relationship between sound and image as the musicians’ improvisations draw inspiration from the works of Eleni Tsaka, a contemporary representative of expressionism who creates figures and environments that narrate actions and feelings.
Composer and saxophonist Dimitris Tsakas studied jazz saxophone at the Berklee College of Music, with a scholarship. He has participated in more than 200 albums as well as many concerts by Greek and foreign artists, while he has given many concerts with his own jazz band in Greece and abroad. In 2024 he released his fourth album, “Conversation Helps”.

MORE.COMAbout the "Jazz at the Museum" series
The B&E Goulandris Foundation presents Jazz at the Museum, a series of tribute concerts to different jazz genres. Once a month, jazz meets visual arts and together they take us on a music journey to the heart of jazz, at the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre and under the artistic direction of Dimitris Tsakas.
In this series, titled “Jazz Interactions”, jazz ensembles explore the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art. The series kicked off with Charis Ioannou’s Workin’ Trio on October 4 and continued with the Michalis Brouzos Trio on November 8 as well as Dimitri and Nestor Vassilakis on December 27. The new year kicks off with the Dimitris Tsakas Trio (Genesis, 17/01), followed by the Harris Lambrakis Quartet (The art of humble materials and music, 07/02) and then Petros Klampanis (Rooftop Stories, 28/03).
