Workin’ Trio – “The two sides of Charis Ioannou”
The new series of the B&E Goulandris Foundation’s Jazz at the Museum concerts, which is titled “Jazz Interactions” and explores the different ways that jazz music interacts with other forms of art, kicks off on Friday, October 4 with Charis Ioannou’s Workin’ Trio and the performance “The two sides of Charis Ioannou”.
At the B&E Goulandris Foundation Amphitheatre, the Workin’ Trio will play music from the jazz golden era in the mid-20th century. Saxophonist Charis Ioannou, Hammond organist Christos Yerolatsitis and drummer Marios Spyrou will perform compositions by Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell and Lou Donaldson as well as instrumental takes on songs from the American Songbook, adapted to the Organ Trio’s sound.
The Workin’ Trio was founded in early 2020 and it grew through weekly jam sessions during the pandemic. Apart from being a musician, Charis Ioannou is also active as a photographer, specialising in black and white street photography, and a selection of his work from the past four years will be screened during the concert at the B&E Goulandris Foundation.
